At Earthroot Acupuncture & Holistic Health, we believe that healing begins with feeling safe, seen, and supported. We take the time to listen, understand your goals, and create individualized treatments that honor your unique body, experiences, and path to wellness. By combining time-honored acupuncture traditions with a calm, thoughtful approach, we aim to support balance, resilience, and long-term well-being in both body and mind.
Dr. Jean-Marie Cartier, DACM, MATCM, L.Ac, owner of Earthroot Acupuncture, has been practicing acupuncture for 15 years. She is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Michigan and California, and is nationally certified by the National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (NCBAHM). She received her Doctorate in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture from Pacific College of Health and Science (San Diego) in 2020, graduating with highest honors. Dr. Jean also holds a four-year Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture from Yo San University (Los Angeles), where she graduated with highest honors in 2013. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication from Florida State University in 2002.
Dr. Jean treats a wide range of health concerns, including but not limited to emotional and physical pain, trauma, digestive issues, fertility, women’s health, anxiety, mood and stress-related conditions. Her work is grounded in the belief that healing is a collaborative process, honoring each person’s unique physiology, history and circumstances.
She is committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment where patients feel heard and empowered. Treatment begins with a conversation about your health goals—where you are, where you would like to go, and how you want to feel. Dr. Jean emphasizes balance, connection with nature, and heart-centered awareness as essential components of long-term well-being.

Meet Lauren Harris
Lauren Harris, owner of Earthroot Wellness, is a passionate proponent of acupuncture. She has received highly effective acupuncture for chronic back pain, fertility, and prenatal purposes in a variety of settings and locations over five years. While receiving excellent care from acupuncturist Dr. Jean in Grand Rapids, Lauren identified the lack of qualified acupuncture care in her community. After reaching out to Dr. Jean about bringing her expertise to Muskegon, they began the partnership that is now Earthroot.
Previously, Lauren was a federal employee with the US Food and Drug Administration for 13 years, in a variety of positions including medical device testing as a mechanical engineer, project and program management, strategic planning consulting, and a supervisor in human capital performance and awards. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Union College, and a Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University, and has completed a fellowship with the Gordon Institute of Engineering Leadership Program. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
